Mobility Scooter Afternoon Hire

£5.00

Description

Our all-terrain Mobility Scooter is now available for hire – £5 per half day.

The afternoon is from 1.30pm to 4.00pm.

It may be possible to amend or extend these times but it very much depends on staff availability. Remember we run with very few staff who have many different calls on their time. They will try and accommodate your wishes, but variation is very much the exception. If you are running late or finish early phone the Field-centre to see if anyone can take the scooter back outside of the allotted time.

We ask that you generally give us 48 notice when you book the scooter; this allows us to ensure a staff member is there to hand over the keys and get you to sign the booking record and other paperwork. We also ask that you return the scooter at the designated time so that there is someone there for you to hand it over to. Ensure you always carry your mobile phone in case you have any trouble.

Over time, we hope to make more and more of our reserves and the local footpaths accessible, but at the moment only a few routes are available, so use is restricted to the road between the main toll booth and Dickson’s corner and the Estate Roads to the beach.

However, the track from Dickson’s Corner to the Sailing Club and shore can now be driven in the scooter so it is possible to do a circuit.

The path through ‘Little Elms and Jubilee Field is now open and the buggy can be driven along those paths to the Dragonfly Pond and back through the Little Elms. See ‘Accessible Routes’ on our main website.

Our mobility scooter may not be like your own. Most scooters use squeezing the righthand lever to move forward and letting go to brake. Our scooter is like a motorbike, you turn the grip back toward you to move forward and use the levers like traditional bike brakes. You will be given an instruction sheet when you first use the scooter. These instructions are also in the scooter basket if you forget anything.

If you want to book with short notice or any other issue don’t hesitate to get in touch with the observatory on  info@sbbot.org.uk or rooms@sbbot.org.uk or ring the main number 01304 617341.
